I’ve seen several movies over the last few days and thought that I would share some quotes and trivia about them. I know, I know, it’s all very exciting. Please try to stay calm. This will all be over in a few minutes.
Miss Congeniality
Quotes:
Gracie Hart: You think I’m gorgeous… You want to kiss me… You want to hug me… You want to love me… You want to smooch me… You want to hug me.
Kathy Morningside: I would much rather cancel the show than have my girls blown up.
Stan Fields (played by William Shatner - Man! That guy is funny!): Especially without their knowledge.
Stan Fields: Miss Rhode Island, please describe your idea of a perfect date.
Cheryl “Rhode Island”: That’s a tough one. I would have to say April 25th. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.
Trivia:
Cheryl “Rhode Island’s” answer to the question “What is your idea of a perfect date?” was actually used as an answer in a real beauty pageant.
There is a scene from the trailer, which is missing in the final version of the film: Her father asks her if she’s a lesbian. She laughs and answers “I wish”.
The Bourne Identity
Quotes:
Jason Bourne: How could I forget about you? You’re the only person I know.
Jason Bourne: And what?
Marie: And what! Listen to me; I’ve been speed-talking for sixty kilometers now. I talk when I’m nervous, I mean, I talk like this when I’m nervous, so, I’m gonna shut up now.
Trivia:
There are no opening credits besides the Title Card.
In the beginning of the film Jason Bourne is looking in the mirror and says, “Vertel me wie ik ben! Zeg me godverdomme wie ik ben?” It’s Dutch, and means, “Tell me who I am! Goddamnit tell me who I am.”
Almost Famous (How great is this movie!!?)
Quotes:
Penny Lane: How old are you?
William Miller: Eighteen.
Penny Lane: Me too! How old are we really?
William Miller: Seventeen.
Penny Lane: Me too!
William Miller: Actually, I’m sixteen.
Penny Lane: Me too. Isn’t it funny? The truth just sounds different.
William Miller: I’m fifteen.
Sapphire: Can you believe these new girls? None of them use birth control and they eat all the steak!
Anita Miller: FECK YOU!
Elaine Miller: HEY!
Anita Miller: This is a house of lies!
Elaine Miller: Well there it is, your sister used the “F” word.
William Miller: I think she said “feck.”
Elaine Miller: What’s the difference?
William Miller: The letter “u.”
Dennis Hope: If you think that Mick Jagger will still be doing the whole rock star thing at age fifty, well, then, you are sorely, sorely mistaken.
Polexia Aphrodisia: It’s all happening!
Trivia:
During the opening credits, the hand that’s writing on the notepad belongs to Cameron Crowe.
The film is director Cameron Crowe’s semi-autobiographical account of life as a young Rolling Stone reporter. The actual group that Crowe first toured with was The Allman Brothers. (Gregg Allman was the one who distrusted him and kept asking if he was a narc.) Crowe’s real-life near-fatal plane crash happened while traveling with The Who. The character of Russell Hammond character is based on Glenn Frey of The Eagles.
Penny Lane asks William if he’d like to go to Morocco with her. He says, “Yes… ask me again.” According to director Crowe, “ask me again” was Patrick Fugit stepping out of character and asking Kate Hudson to repeat her lines for another take. But Crowe like the take as-is and kept it in the final cut.
The character of Penny Lane is loosely based on real-life groupie “Pennie Lane”.
