Hiya hiya hiya, kids! We're, like, back. Back from vacation. Back from where we have been for the last several days.
Whaddya mean, you didn't even realize that we were gone!!?? Sheesh! That's cold, man.
Anyway, I have several things to say regarding our travels into the bowels of New England. But first, let me just throw out this question.
Do you live in Massachusetts?
If the answer to that is "Why, yes. Yes I do.", then allow me to ask you another question.
Why do you drive like such as asshole!!
Holy crap! You Massachusetts drivers are a whole different breed of driver, aren't you? It's bad enough to get passed on the right but when "the right" is a stone filled shoulder and not even a real lane you know you've entered a different world. We had cars darting in front of us from all directions. We had cars practically pushing us through red lights. We even had one enterprising young man make a U-Turn in front of us. As we approached him at a fair rate of speed. As other cars did the same from the opposite direction. In the middle of a two lane road. We all learned one thing from that particular episode, however. We all now know that our brakes work just fine.
I will say this for Massachusetts. They certainly do give your peripheral vision a good healthy workout.
You know who I really feel sorry for? Poor little Rhode Island. You suck-ass Massachusetts drivers are so bad that your horrible driving habits are starting to leak into Northeast Rhode Island! And RI is so small that Northeast RI just isn't that far away from SouthWest RI! So cut it out, Massachusetts!
Ok, I'll have to tell you about some of the good things that happened on our trip later. I hope you all had a really nice week and are looking forward to a fun and friendly holiday weekend.
Posted by Buzz at May 27, 2005 04:34 PMWho are you talking to, Buzz? A ghost?
We had a ghost in our house one time, but I never talked to him, or even seen him, because he's a ghost. Anyways, my big brother seen this ghost walk away with my socks 2 times, so either his feet are cold, or he's a Feef who likes smelly socks!
I don't come from Massachusetts, plus I don't have a car, but I hope to get one one day, with lots of head room. My big brother says he would just cut off the top of my car and give me an umbrella, and googles for the bugs, which is good.
I do have experience with cars, I get hit by them all the time when I play street hockey in the street, but it's not so bad now since I figured out how to hang onto the hood, only when they hit the brakes!
I'm really happy that you had a great trip, Buzz, and the workout you got in massachusetts!
Posted by: Rockchild at May 27, 2005 04:56 PMSeems like you are on to something, but actually they are the second dumbest drivers next to Rhode Island.
Posted by: Lee at May 27, 2005 05:04 PMWelcome back! Glad you made it home in one piece.
Posted by: QC at May 27, 2005 05:07 PMAnd I thought the Bay Area drivers out here in Cali were the worst.
Posted by: theMike at May 27, 2005 05:21 PMWelcome back!
You have obviously never tried to drive in southern Indiana. Neither have many native Hoosiers. They CALL it driving. I call it 15 mph moseying or 95 mph meandering.
The line down the middle of the road marks the place to dump your roadkill.
Posted by: Mamacita at May 27, 2005 05:55 PMThey call themselves MASSHOLES. I don't know why they drive so bad, but they do. Maybe Colin at http://bostonblueyes.blogspot.com can shed some light on it. BUT he's a good driver, an oddity there. LOL.
Glad you had a good time, and of course you and Empress were missed!
Posted by: Karen at May 27, 2005 06:32 PMI missed you!!!
Posted by: Katherine at May 27, 2005 07:59 PMwelcome back!
Posted by: sleepingmommy at May 27, 2005 08:15 PMWelcome back! I checked here every day, even though I KNEW you weren't home. How's that for pathetic?? :)
Posted by: angie at May 27, 2005 09:03 PMThey got nothing on Alabama drivers. I thought everyone in Alabama was trying to kill me. Seriously, we were practically trading paint in super bumper to bumper traffic. Scary. I do so love Mass, shitty drivers and all. Welcome back!
Posted by: Crystal at May 27, 2005 10:49 PMDid you meet any celebrities ?
Posted by: MIKE at May 28, 2005 01:43 PMBuzzie, are you sure you're not just getting old ?
I though I passed you the other day on the big highway that runs real close to your house. You were in the right lane - with your left blinker on - for a couple of miles! I kinda felt sorry for you when that guy on the mo-ped blew past you.
If you want to see some seriously crazy drivers, go to Europe. Their motto is "All autobahn, all the time" even when they're driving on city streets that were created a thousand years ago. Rome is probably the worst.
Sounds like Crystal might have accidentally wandered onto the track at Talladega Superspeedway.
Posted by: Dash Riprock at May 28, 2005 03:00 PMAh, good ole' MA. We drove to Martha's Vineyard once, and it's a whole nother world, especially those silly rotarys.
Posted by: indigo at May 28, 2005 11:09 PMyou're not making me look forward to my driving trip out there in august... oh, and welcome back! glad the masshole drivers didn't keep you from having a mostly good time.
Posted by: P at May 29, 2005 02:50 AMWelcome home Buzz. I don't think it's just Mass....the whole country has become a nation of asshole drivers. Glad you made it back.
Posted by: Nanc' at May 29, 2005 11:46 AMBuzzie, I believe the term you are looking for is "MASS-hole" to describe the driving. They'll not only pass you on a gravelly shoulder, but also ride your bumper doing 80 mph to boot.
I love vacationing in New England (Vermont, NH and Maine specifically), however MA is a breed unto itself.
Posted by: NuggetMaven at May 29, 2005 03:00 PMWelcome back! Masschuesetts driving skills were something I was rather shocked at when I visited. But I do have to give it to them for flashing their headlights to warn other drivers to slow down cause there's a cop car around the bend. But yes, other than that. They do suck as drivers. lol And that's coming from someone from Cali!
Posted by: groovebunny at May 29, 2005 05:37 PMWelcome back, Buzz!
Thank goodness you have great defensive driving skills - it's nice to know that you and Pat returned home safely.
Posted by: kernyen at May 29, 2005 06:25 PMWelcome back Buzz! Ah, now I know who the man was in the article Man Rolls Eyes At New England Drivers....
Posted by: Michele at May 30, 2005 10:56 AMSounds like AZ drivers ;(
I hope you had a lovely trip!
Posted by: Rachel in AZ (formally of Alaska) at May 31, 2005 01:46 PMWell, if you weren't going so slow and dawdling at red lights, we wouldn't have to blow past you, ride your bumper or push you thru the light! The guy who did the U-turn tho? Not so typical...altho I did a couple last weekend myself when I was lost...not in front of other cars, tho! Sheesh! ;-)
