Re: On this date (A retro Playlist)

Michele over at A Small Victory has posted her iPod (if such a thing had existed) playlist from the year she graduated from high school (1980). I thought that sounded interesting (she's got some great songs on there) so I'm playing along. So here (basically in order of preference) is my virtual iPod playlist from my last year of high school, 1978 (Hey, quit laughing!! I am NOT old! Ok, maybe a little bit.)

• I Go Crazy - Paul Davis – Still one of my favorite songs ever)
• Magnet and Steel - Walter Egan
• Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty (I thought that Gerry Rafferty was going to be a super-superstar. What happened?)
• Deacon Blues - Steely Dan
• Because the Night - Patti Smith Group
• Follow You Follow Me - Genesis
• Paradise by the Dashboard Light - Meat Loaf
• Stayin' Alive - Bee Gees
• Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon
• Dust in the Wind – Kansas (I was CRAZY for this group!)
• Just What I Needed - The Cars
• Sign of the times - Bryan Ferry
• Time Passages - Al Stewart
• You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth - Meat Loaf
• Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
• Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man) - Styx
• Lay Down Sally - Eric Clapton (I loved this song for the backup singers)
• Shattered - The Rolling Stones
• Mr. Blue Sky - Electric Light Orchestra
• She's Always a Woman - Billy Joel
• Hold the Line - Toto
• The Name of the Game - Abba (Swedish? Beautiful? I’m in!)
• Right Down the Line - Gerry Rafferty
• I love the sound of breaking glass - Nick Lowe
• We've Got Tonite - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
• Two Out of Three Ain't Bad - Meat Loaf (He could do no wrong back then)
• Turn to Stone - Electric Light Orchestra
• Hot Blooded - Foreigner (This group was HUGE in my circle)
• Kiss You All Over - Exile
• Double Vision - Foreigner
• It's a Heartache - Bonnie Tyler (Love that smoky voice!)
• Can We Still Be Friends - Todd Rundgren
• Baby Hold On - Eddie Money
• The Gambler - Kenny Rogers
• Only the Good Die Young - Billy Joel
• Satisfaction – Devo (Heh!)
• Love Is Like Oxygen - Sweet
• Two Tickets to Paradise - Eddie Money
• Baby Come Back - Player
• Beast of Burden - The Rolling Stones
• Summer Nights - Olivia Newton-John & John Travolta
• I Love the Nightlife (Disco 'Round) - Alicia Bridges (Apparently, I liked to boogie)
• Copacabana (At the Copa) - Barry Manilow (Shut up! This was good stuff!)
• Hopelessly Devoted to You - Olivia Newton-John (Australian? Beautiful? I’m in!)
• Boogie Oogie Oogie - A Taste of Honey
• King Tut - Steve Martin & The Toot Uncommons (Still cracks me up!)

I posted a playlist of my own, which I am sure will earn me much ridicule. :)

I'm with you on at least one of them: King Tut. It still cracks me up too.

I always wondered about Gerry Rafferty too. Loved his music.

Starting down your list I could hear the words or melody of almost all of them. In the back of my poor little brain a small voice shouted, " Oh man I loved that one ", over and over again. Thanks for the stimulation!!!!

I'm surprised there was no Roxy Music on the list. Maybe it's time to catch up.
