Hugs and Kisses

I'm not much of a kisser. No wait, that's not what I mean. I could be a great kisser for all I know. You'd have to ask her. What I mean is, when we get together with friends and family, I'm not one to offer up a big ol' smackeroo. Nope, not even on the cheek. Hugs? Sure, no problem. Kisses? Not so much. And sometimes it gets weird. If I get hooked up with a kisser-greeter, we sorta get lost in that no-man's land somewhere between a hug and a kiss and a hello and a which side does my head go and a how much do I hug and patpatpat and then we're done. Whew! Very stressful!

What's even weirder is that I do actually have one friend that, when we meet up, plants one right on the ol' kisser. (No, it's not JJJJB!) I don't know how it ever came about but for whatever reason it seems right. I don't know.

So how about youse guys? Are you kissers? Huggers? Both? Neither?

Let me just interject that you, my friend, are the world's best kisser! But if you start sharing that talent with our friends, THEN things will really start getting weird - and not in a good way!

I'm a hugger from way back... kisses are saved for my kids and hubby ^_^

Posted by: Beverly at April 8, 2005 08:43 AM

More of just a hugger/pat on the back. I rarely kiss someone unless it's a baby or small child on the cheek/forehead.

I have a force field, one that must not be penetrated. Call it personal space, call it unsociable, whatever it is it's just me!

Ohh, I'm a big hugger....one of those touchy-feely types with those I care for.

I don't necessarily kiss everybody...but I'm not opposed to it either. ;)

I'm a hugger with those who want a hug...a kisser with those who want a kiss...and if you don't want either...I am cool with that too...

I'm a big-time hugger, kissing is reserved for family and only those really long time friends.

Posted by: Broomhilda at April 8, 2005 09:21 AM

I am *such* a hugger. And, if I know you well enough, you get kisses too!

Posted by: Kate at April 8, 2005 09:21 AM

Back off me, man!

;)

Posted by: judi at April 8, 2005 09:22 AM

i'm a "don't touch me" type. i'll give hugs to close friends and relatives, but that's as close as it gets. only the boyfriend gets kisses.

Posted by: geeky at April 8, 2005 09:33 AM

Other than my Baby (not you Buzz), I'd rather not even shake hands. Sometimes it feels like a shake/hug/kiss is in order (not all at once), but I'd rather pass on any of them.

Posted by: JJJJB at April 8, 2005 09:39 AM

I have sort of a hierarchy. There are a lot of people I'd rather just wave to, some I'll hug, and a few I'll kiss. Small peck on the cheek, no expectation that they'll reciprocate. Just quick and clean.

That's where the pyramid gets really narrow. There's QuirkyBoy, whom I just can't resist smothering in smooches at random intervals. It's his own fault for being so friggin' cute.

And then there's QuirkyGuy, who...uh...mmmm.

I'm sorry, what was I saying?

I love to give and receive huggies!!! Hugs are the best and can be so good for the soul. Kisses on the other hand are saved for really good friends, family and of course my man!!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

I'm an all out let me kiss ya kinda gal. That's the way I was raised. I still kiss aunts, uncles, grandparents and parents. Doesn't mix well with the Genuine side of the family though...they are the stand back and don't touch me sorts!!! Gen has come around, I'll get them all too!!!

Always a hugger, but in the past year, suddenly a kisser, everyone, all the time! I don't know what happened.

Posted by: Jen at April 8, 2005 11:29 AM

Always been very affectionate to people I love. I won't hug/kiss a stranger, but no one gets out of my house without a hug.

My 4 year old won't ask for a hug; she'll tell you, "I"m going to hug you now!" and is very, VERY affectionate. (Sometimes people don't get that we're just a huggy family). Gotta work more on not talking to people you don't know if Mom's not right there with you, though.

Oh, sometimes all that huggy/ kissy stuff can be SO awkward! I am not into the kissing either. But I'd love a hug if someone wants to initiate. I don't usually initiate a hug unless I'm pretty sure. Some people seem so stand-offish about any kind of affection. It's all So CONFUSING! :-P

Yeah... kissing and hugging... not so much for me either. Certain people it's okay, certain family members, but on the whole, not wild about it either.

I do the hugging and kissing thing but it makes me uncomfortable

Posted by: Pixie at April 8, 2005 03:47 PM

Cats on the lips, fine. My own children (can't get enough). Husband runs very hot and cold-just the kssing part, not the rest of the relationship. BookClubMyAss- can hug them all, anytime. My mother I just got comfortable kissing about 4 years ago (when she turned 75). Everybody else, hello Purell.

People always kiss in greeting in France, which weirds me out but I kind of like it and miss it in the US. I don't know anyone in the US I'd greet with a kiss, but I only even hug people if I haven't seen them in a while so kissing could be weird.

I should go around hugging and kissing people all the time. It's probably good to have human contact like that!

Posted by: srah at April 9, 2005 01:51 PM

Oh, and I'm a very affectionate drunk. I will stumble around tables to kiss people I wouldn't normally talk to.

Posted by: srah at April 9, 2005 01:57 PM

Me, I like to get a little tongue action in there. HA HA! I kid! I wouldn't do that... Unless you're Ron Cribb, in which case, I'M TOTALLY DOING THAT!

But, for the record, I have levels of greetings. Just met you? I'll wave at you from over there. You might have cooties! Known you for some period of time? Will hug you. Seen you naked? Will include kiss with hug. Ron Cribb? Will include groping with hug and kiss.

Posted by: Jennifer at April 10, 2005 01:07 PM

Hugs, great. Kisses? I'll pass. Even with the hubs, I'm just not a big kisser, I'm perfectly happy with a peck. He says "Slip me some tongue." every day as he's leaving for work, and gets shot down every time.

Posted by: Crystal at April 12, 2005 10:48 PM

Hugger, but only with certain people. I can't explain it. Kisses are reserved for family and fiance. Kids, eventually. (Gotta have 'em first.)
