Shudder

Ok, is it just me or is anyone else getting an ultra-creepy oompa-loompa vibe from the plastic Burger King dude. Seriously! That can't be helping sales can it? Especially when he's just standing outside the window staring in! Jeepers, I am getting shivers just thinking about it.

He seriously gives me the heebee jeebees!! I can't watch those commercials and I'm afraid to go to Burger King 'cause he might be there!!!

Posted by: cjh at April 7, 2005 04:03 PM

I don't do burgers, unless i make them myself, of course!

But I must agree. *shivers*

... and that breakfast sandwich... it's a whole days worth of calories! I think they are trying to kill us! either by scaring the cr^p out of us , or giving us heart atacks.

Posted by: geeky at April 7, 2005 04:34 PM

makes me nervous. I'm glad it's not just me.

Hi, I just randomly clicked on your blog from Michele's place. I had to comment because these commercials are SO DARN FUNNY! Yes, the King is most creepy, for sure. I love when he's on the floor rolling (I'm LOL just typing this). For some reason my husband and I laugh at these commercials more than our kids do. Whatever that means, I don't know. ;)

LOVE your blog. It's a gorgeous creamy coffee color and pleasing to read.

Just wanted to say hey,

I can tell by looking at your photo here that it would scare the hell outta me. I knew there was a reason I don't do tv and commercials and all of that. Bizzarro.

Posted by: Keri at April 7, 2005 05:02 PM

Ditto on that!

Posted by: kernyen at April 7, 2005 05:20 PM

he ranks VERY high on the creep factor scale..

Posted by: debby at April 7, 2005 05:27 PM

Okay, I am SO glad we are not the ONLY ones who think these commercials are creepy! The teenager just commented this yesterday as a matter of fact!

Personally, if I found the creepy Burger King outside my window...I would sic all three of my dogs on him!

Posted by: Wendi at April 7, 2005 05:45 PM

That has to be the worst spokesperson ever. If I woke up, and he was sitting on my bed with a croissandwich, I would probably shit my sheets.

Posted by: Strode at April 7, 2005 06:26 PM

Nope it's not just you. That guy seriously gives me the creeps. I mean, his expression never changes!

Posted by: huy at April 7, 2005 07:21 PM

I freaking LOVE the king because he totally looks like Jesus!!!!

Posted by: Y at April 7, 2005 08:44 PM

I checked your blog just for giggles to read some of your old posts, and imagine my surprise to see you have been resurrected.....a little late for Easter, but a very welcome sight!
WELCOME BACK....WE MISSED YOU!

what's worse is that quaker oats has a similar campaign with that creepy quaker dude. and now there's a local commercial for the baltimore aquarium that uses a little scuba diver statue that gives me the same vibes.

Posted by: tj at April 7, 2005 10:50 PM

Very very creepy. It freaks me out.

Posted by: chasmyn at April 8, 2005 03:09 AM

Oh yeah, I agree. He's one creepy character. The only commerical that creeps me out more is Digger the dermatifite who lifts up the toe nail...eeewwwwwwwwwwww

Posted by: fran at April 8, 2005 07:23 AM

I never trusted that Snuggle fabric softener bear. Now that's creepy! I think it's those penetrating black eyes or the evil laugh.

Posted by: JJJJB at April 8, 2005 07:35 AM

Nightmares-ville. **Eeeek!**

Posted by: Vickie at April 8, 2005 09:19 AM

I am SO having nightmares about that thing tonight. Him and the Quizno's roadkill rats chasing me. Along with that big-ass fish in the "get comfortable with fish" commercials.

Gah!! What is wrong with these ad agencies?!

Posted by: QC at April 8, 2005 09:48 AM

I could be wrong but I think The King was brought back. I seem to remember him from many years ago. Some things are better left in the past.

Posted by: Nanc' at April 8, 2005 10:29 AM

I swear he looks like he's got really bad gas or is ready to run to the john.

His expressioni creeps me out for sure.

Posted by: Kris at April 8, 2005 11:49 AM

I just saw this commercial for the first time last night. I swear I thought the same thing as Y, it looks like Jesus. A VERY SCARY Jesus. It is just so WRONG!!!

Posted by: Chelle at April 8, 2005 12:09 PM

It's wicked creepy, YUCK!

Posted by: Janet at April 8, 2005 02:32 PM

Looking in the window? What about when HE'S IN THE BED WITH HIM?!?! Just gives ya the willies!

Posted by: vicki at April 9, 2005 10:44 AM

Omg yes! I've been meaning to blog about that creepy bastard for some time now but you've beaten me to it. ;-)

I would seriously FREAK THE @#$% OUT if I opened my window and saw him just standing there staring at me. He would get that burger shoved where the sun don't shine, I tell ya...

Posted by: Michelle at April 10, 2005 08:37 PM

Creepy! These BK commercials have made me go from being indifferent to BK (eh, it's no Mickey D's!) to HATING BK with a passion. Like I'd rather gouge my eyeballs out with a spork, and eat them for lunch than go into a Burger King. Oh, and the munchkins? They see the commercials and get all excited... "Mommy!! Wake up with the King!" I'm such a wonderful mother!

Posted by: Crystal at April 12, 2005 10:51 PM

The Burger King gives me the willies! I'm glad I have a second-floor apartment so I don't find him standing outside MY window first thing in the morning.

Something about him reminds me of Samara from The Ring. Maybe how, in that one commercial, the guy first sees him across the lawn and then, bam! He's right outside the window. Freaks me out!

Posted by: Dedanaan at April 14, 2005 09:46 PM

i was just online, searchin and questing for pics of that uber-creepy, schizoid-lookin fiberglassheaded king...thank the great dog in the sky someone is spreading the word...the fear, the fear...it holds my soul and makes me squirt brown in my trousers. ;-) if this isn't a great reason to avoid your boobus tube and skip the fast food - i mean, they're stalking you with guys who give leatherface, fred krueger, even buffalo bill a feckin' run for their scary-pants-selves. you nailed it - 'ultra creepy oompa loompa vibe' - tho i still think the oompas are cute, and nowhere near as menacing as this random weekend killer fiberglass king dude. ;-) xoxo , david at friedmandesigns dot com

The King is the creepiest spokesperson on the tube right now. But here's nowhere near as annoying as the Travelocity gnome. I wish he'd just go away. As soon as one of those dumb commercials come on, I change the channel.

Posted by: Bryan W at April 15, 2005 10:19 AM

Very Scary, reminds me of the fake Santa from Santa Clause #2

Posted by: Tom at April 15, 2005 11:58 AM

The comercerials are incredibly creepy!!!
But that is just on the surface. Underneath it is loaded with homosexual
content and inter-racial relationships. While I don't have any problems with either, one must wonder about BKs
ultimate agenda here. I no long consider Burger King when I get hungry. Just way
too creepy! KD

OK, the Burger King guy totally creeps me out. I believe he is truly EVIL. But the one that truly scares the crap out of me is ELIDEL. Anyone seen that one? The product is a skin cream but the "spokesman" is this HIDEOUS little animated creep in a superman outfit who flies around and pesters any poor unfortunate soul he can find who has eczema. The only way you can get rid of him is if he spots somebody ELSE who is itching worse than you--and then he leaves you and flies over to pester them. As if people with chronic skin conditions don't have ENOUGH to worry about. I'm not kidding--the first time I saw this commercial I was half asleep on the couch and I literally had a nightmare about it. The next morning I couldn't remember if it was a dream or what. If you don't believe me check out www.elidel.com.

Nanc', I recently saw a commercial on a site dedicated to retro television. Yes, the King has been brought back. However, in the older commercials, they had a guy dressed like that, but no fake mask.

Those commercials scare the crap out of me every time. This may be the thing that drives me back to vegetarianism.
