Ok, just a quick post between picture requests here. Mostly aimed at you women out there. That's right. You!
What the heck is up with all of the damn shawls??
Everywhere I look I see women wearing shawls. It's like there was a huge freakin' sale at Shawl Town or Shawls-R-Us or Shawl Shawl Shawl or We-B-Shawls or Shawl City or...well, you get the idea.
Didn't we already do the whole shawl thing? Didn't we already decide that shawls were a failed experiment? Let it go, people. Just let it go.
Oh, and before you get too mad at me, I meant to say that the shawl actually looks very nice on you. Sexy even. It's all those other women that I'm talking about.
Posted by Buzz at November 18, 2004 10:08 AMI'm glad you made that little exception there for me! I am hotter than just boring old sexy in my dusky pink shawl!
Posted by: Amber at November 18, 2004 10:17 AMI have not ever seen a shawl that I liked.
Not ever.
Posted by: Kathy Howe at November 18, 2004 10:22 AM~shawls, and clothing in general, is highly overrated...what ever happened to good ole fashioned nudity???~
Posted by: btezra at November 18, 2004 10:36 AMI don't do ponchos.
Now, wraps...that's an entirely different matter altogether....
Posted by: lucy at November 18, 2004 10:37 AMShawls are good for hiding how A) you didn't wear a bra with that tank and 2) just how cold you are in your braless tank.
I like my shawl :)
Posted by: katherine at November 18, 2004 10:38 AMOh, I know you weren't just talking to me! And it's called a "poncho" - shawls wrap - ponchos are pulled over the head. That's my contribution to today's full frontal fashion.
Posted by: Lizt at November 18, 2004 10:44 AMgranny fashion is so HOT. Next for me is blue hair and stockings with my pants pulled up to my boobs.
Posted by: Sarcastic Journalist at November 18, 2004 10:53 AMI don't like ponchos, either. I had one way back in 2nd or 3rd grade when they were "in". Who ARE these people that keep bringing horrible fashion faux pas back? I suppose that pretty soon my husband will have to buy a leisure suit, wide white belt and white shoes, because they're sure to come back in fashion. Kill me now!
Posted by: MJ at November 18, 2004 11:02 AMBusy Boy wants a shawl (yes, I know "?"). I asked him why and he said beacause they wear them in Peru. Busy Girl reminded him that he doesn't live in Peru.
Posted by: Busy Mom at November 18, 2004 11:13 AMHey! I've made about a dozen ponchos this year!! So what if they were for 8-10 year olds?
: - )
Posted by: Kate at November 18, 2004 11:26 AMI have a poncho that matches my leg warmers. I'm a maniac, manic!
Posted by: jjjjb at November 18, 2004 11:31 AMMine is really just a cashmere wrap with a little seam. That's what I tell myself anyway. And it IS sexy, as cashmere can be.
Posted by: Mindy at November 18, 2004 11:38 AMhola, i got here via espresso sarcasm's blog. i boycotted the entire shawl epidemic. just went for a knitted scarf found in a 'tibetan' shop in berkeley last fall.
Posted by: melina at November 18, 2004 11:54 AMHold on a second!!! What's with all the poncho hating?!!! I have one on right now, and it is quite cute, and it's off the shoulder. It's downright sexy. AND I've gotten MANY compliments on my outfit today, and it wasn't by the 80 year old posse! *hee*
Posted by: Meeta at November 18, 2004 12:20 PMI have one here somewhere... buried in one of these boxes from 1972... AH! Hmm, a bit small and the rainbow colors don't seem quite as stylin' as they did back then. Guess I'll have to remain shawl-less!
Posted by: annie at November 18, 2004 12:27 PMit's all jessican simpsons fault. she put one on, and now they're everywhere. i wish she would wear some combat boots, because i could really use a new pair and i can't find them anywhere :(
Posted by: geeky at November 18, 2004 12:29 PMThanks, Katherine. Now I'm gonna be all like "Grandma, what you hiding under that shawl?"
*shiver*
Posted by: ben at November 18, 2004 02:01 PMexcuuuuuuse us fat girls for wanting to wear something that hides the freakin' rolls!
Posted by: y at November 18, 2004 02:35 PMThis phenomenon can be traced back to the "Outlaw Josey Wales"
Posted by: MIKE at November 18, 2004 03:22 PMMy verdict is still out on shawls---let you know when I decide on this one
Posted by: Sweet n Sassy at November 18, 2004 03:42 PMOutlaw Josey Wales? LMAO!
I think you may be right, MIKE...
Posted by: Vickie at November 18, 2004 04:17 PMThose are not shawls or ponchos. Those are giant dickies.
Posted by: Erica at November 19, 2004 04:01 AMFirst of all, I don't want any of you guys (MIKE, JJJB, P, etc) asking Erica why she's thinking about giant dickies at 4AM. 2nd, concerning the ponchos, it's really quite simple. This summer, the fashionistas said that ponchos were going to be THE IN THING. Therefore, they are. (I can't wait until they predict that busty women in suspenders are going to be the next big thing.)
Posted by: Willie's Buddy Jimmy at November 19, 2004 11:41 AMLOL. Actually that lady in the pic looks like she's wearing someone's table cloth! Tablecloth wearing? Big fashion faux pas. lol
