This is a two parter so bear with me, k?
Part One: We have a great service here where I work. There is an auto service place down the street that will come and get your car while you're working, perform service during the day and return it to you before you leave for home. Very handy.
This morning, I called to have my car inspected. They came out, got my car and are doing the service as we speak. Perfect.
Part Two: We also have a pretty nice cafeteria here where I work. But sometimes, after eating there too often, the food starts to all taste the same. You know what I mean? Like eating at the same restaraunt all the time. So Pat and I decide that we will order food from Bob Evans (down on the farm) which is just a couple of miles down the road. We'll call in the order then go pick it up.
(You can see this one coming a mile away, can't you?)
Part Dummy: It gets to be time to go pick up the food. I stand up and then it hits me. I don't have a car! It's being inspected! Auughh! So I had to go beg my friend Cindy (and by beg, I mean kiss her ass) for a ride over to Bob Evans. Which she graciously did.
Sometimes I'm not the brightest wick in the candle shop.

Posted by: MIKE at April 23, 2004 03:01 PMI'd laugh, but I've done the same thing.
Posted by: Lee at April 23, 2004 03:25 PMDont feel bad. I've been lending my car to my neighbor for 3 weeks now. I still try to go to lunch every few days.
Posted by: Zoot at April 23, 2004 03:37 PMI hope the food was good? Did you have to get Cindy something? Lucky to have friends that will drive. I'm lucky to have many people here that have carted me around in the past.
Posted by: Tom at April 23, 2004 04:13 PMHow old did you say you are?
Posted by: cassie-b at April 23, 2004 04:31 PMYes, SOMETIMES. Buzz would NEVER set himself up for a shot like you just did. However, it's Friday and it's nice out, so I graciously decline to take that shot. Have a great weekend all !
Posted by: Willie's Buddy Jimmy at April 23, 2004 04:34 PMI do stuff like that a lot too, part of being human...
Hope you had a great day!
Posted by: Karen at April 23, 2004 06:52 PMThat cracks me up. The funny(or is it sad) thing is that I didn't catch on until you figured it out in your story. That deserves a huge...DOH!
Posted by: Nicole at April 23, 2004 08:18 PMChalk this one up to the universal law of you never want or need something, until it's no longer there. LOL
