Well, good morning, everyone. Hope you all woke up on the right side of the bed this morning. I'm feeling a bit so-so, but I'm willing to give the rest of the day it's chance to cheer me up.
I was reading some news bits this morning and ran across this strange story. Now, I happen to believe that the world has gone sue-crazy and that there are just tons of senseless, frivolous lawsuits popping up every day. This woman, however, might have a pretty good case. She has decided to take legal action and I have a hunch that she just might win.
An X-ray showing a 17centimeter (6.7 inches) pair of surgical scissors in the abdomen of 69-year-old Pat Skinner in Sydney, Australia, Tuesday, April 20, 2004. Mrs Skinner had an operation at St.George hospital in Sydney's south in May 2001, but continued to suffer intense pain and it was only when she insisted on an x-ray 18 months later that she discovered the scissors inside. Posted by Buzz at April 22, 2004 06:44 AMHi ya, BuzzSaw. Well, I guess this is better than needing a doctor to remove a gerbil from one's butt (but not that much better).....besides, it wasn't the doctor's fault that the gerbil got there in the first place (sorry, I'm rambling --- I'm still in a state of shock from having to change all of them work passwords, ya know).

Posted by: Willie's Buddy Jimmy at April 22, 2004 08:45 AMYa just know they had to hire someone after that whose sole job is to count their scissors when they're done.
Posted by: M at April 22, 2004 08:45 AMshe didn't notice for 18 months? ouch!!
Posted by: P at April 22, 2004 08:56 AMI'd hate to be one of the people in that OR who was responsible for doing their counts.......
Posted by: Kim at April 22, 2004 09:41 AMyah i think she'll get mula !
Posted by: todd at April 22, 2004 10:00 AMIf I am correct, in the US anyway, they have people who have to count everything after each surgery to be sure they have it all. That being the case, there are way too many of these cases happening everyday.
Just do a search on google for "surgical retractor left in body" and feel your stomach turn. ugh .
Thanks for the gross out this mornin' Buzz.
Posted by: Connie at April 22, 2004 10:28 AMHow creepy!
Posted by: Wyllow at April 22, 2004 12:40 PMThe creepier thing is that her husband found it.....ouch. I'd hate to be THAT guy.
Posted by: Lee at April 22, 2004 02:41 PMHonestly, how do you lose something that big?!?!?!
Posted by: etherian at April 22, 2004 04:12 PMI cannot believe that. I cannot even imagine the pain that something like that would cause being inside your system. That is so gross.
