I just love routine

Can cats have bulemia? If so, I think we have a definite candidate at our house. Every morning, it's the same ol' thing. Our two cats, Phoebe and Phranc, bitch and moan and walk around our feet until they get fed. Then they eat like there's no tomorrow (which, for all I know, there might not be). Then Phoebe goes and lays down in the kitchen and wishes she could have some milk, which we don't give her.

Then the fun part.

Phranc, at this point every morning, every SINGLE morning, throws up. And not just a little. She pukes up damn near everything that she ate. And what's worse is that it looks exactly the same as when it went into the bowl! Like it's not even chewed!

Then someone has to go clean it up quickly before Phoebe goes and eats it.

Oh, sorry. What I meant to say was 'Good Morning'.

Ahhh...the joy of living with cats. Good morning to ya, as well :-)

At least she's been keeping it on the tile for the most part lately! That's a little better than the old days when she'd sprint for the carpet every time.

Sounds like vet time to me. I think your barfing cat is eating too fast because he's trying to keep the food from the other cat. Try feeding them while they're separated for a few weeks. Also, add a little water to his food if it's dry to soften it a bit.

I get up to cat sick every single morning!
*Sigh*

I don't think it's bulimia, cos my cat is so FAT!

I can relate. We had a cat that did that constantly.

You paint such a pretty picture on an early Monday morning.

Did I mention? The bonus of ferrets is they are unable to throw up.

i had a cat who did that too. up chucked all the time. turns out she was allergic to food. yes, that's right. allergic to food! stupid cat.

ah ha ha ha. that is funny. sorry cats rock, even the puking and eating puke kinds. he he he

It *is* weird how it looks unchewed. Maybe cats don't chew?

It could be worse - my sister's cats bring her "gifts" like dead birds and mice. Ick.

it's even worse when you're not paying attention and you've got bare feet, and... never mind. welcome to my world! :)

happy monday to ya Buzz.

Yoiks!! That's a nice howdy-do every morning. I've had my share of barefoot morning puke encounters, too. :{ I was gonna type out some advice on things you can try (I'm a professional pet sitter, with tons of cat experience), but sometimes unsolicited advice is well, not welcome...so shoot me an email if you're interested, k?

Sounds like it could be either bolting the food or an allergy. With 6 cats, I get a fair amount of this (with one dog, I don't always see the evidence which is just disgusting). Check your catfood lables. If there are artificial colors or flavors, that oculd be a problem. The size of the pieces can also make a difference -- mine seem to have a harder time with larger pieces. Small kibble bits go down better.

I'd recommend a perpetual feeder if that will work. That's just a large container feeder that makes dry food available all the time. For a cat that's paranoid about eating, it can be very comforting to always have food available. Of course, you might end up with a beachball instead of a cat, but our 6 seem to do quite well with it (all of ours were foundlings with various food issues).

Good luck! And check with the vet.

LOL My cat does the same exact thing! I've even taken him to the vet and nothing is wrong with him. He just eats waaay to fast!

Love your site! :)

People do not understand why our two year old cats are still on kitten chow... why... b/c they do not throw up! We've tried to change it several times in the past and at least two if not three of them hurl.

my cat used to be so fat, but recently he's been vomiting something fierce, and almost everytime, there is a huge chunk of leaf in it. maybe he choked and had to vomit it up, but either way, he's so skinny now, he does it almost every day! im worried. he's my only cat, and i dont think he eats too fast, so it must be because he snacks on our house plants.
