We live in a pretty nice development (as developments go). There are some absolutely gorgeous homes in here. The one that I want to talk to you about today was one of the model homes when the development was being built. In fact, it was "the big model". We walked through it several times. It is even more beautiful inside than out. It was also the last home that sold as our builder used it for his office for quite some time. But it did finally get sold. The people that bought it did some beautiful landscaping and really dressed the place up nicely. It's really a very classy looking house. Upper-crusty, you know? Then they did the most unbelievable thing. The mailbox. "Oh, how bad could it be", I hear you whispering. Well I'll let you be the judge.
Here's the house...
And here's "THE MAILBOX". Are you kidding me??
No they didn't! Thank God we have an association with strict rules.....and we all have the same mailboxes :)
Posted by: Lisa at July 14, 2003 07:07 PMThis would only be funny if their house number was FOUR!!
Sorry...couldn't resist. I feel you pain in different ways I guess.
Posted by: Kathy Howe at July 14, 2003 07:25 PMunbelievable. And I've seen that house. Well, different strokes for different folks.
Posted by: Cassie-B at July 14, 2003 07:37 PMI wonder what the inside looks like. It could be just just as tacky as the mailbox!
Posted by: Margie at July 14, 2003 07:41 PMUhm *trying hard not to giggle* I'm sorry *snikker* but egads it could have been ten times worse. It could be a purple monstrosity or something like that *grin*
Posted by: lauren at July 14, 2003 07:41 PMHoly shit. THere ought to be a law....if you can kill them, Craig and I will buy the house and get rid of that awful thing.
Posted by: Nicole at July 14, 2003 07:52 PMFasten a big toy golf club to the side of it...pictures please.
Posted by: Busy Mom at July 14, 2003 08:10 PMKathy Howe buzzed 102 times!?!?!?
WHAT?!?!?!?!
I'm in THIRD place!!??!?!?
Buzz...how did this happen?
I'm behind Erica by 34 buzzes.
I'm behind Empress by 42 buzzes.
But wait! This comment puts me at 103.
Heh.
Inching closer to the ladies...better look out girls...keep those 1st and 2nd seats secure and comment for Buzz-baby.
Kathy Howe is feeling competitive tonight.
Buzz, buzz.
Posted by: Kathy Howe at July 14, 2003 08:20 PMThere's still some light outside. I'm coming over with my 1 wood. I'll smack that thing right off it's post!!
Posted by: buddha at July 14, 2003 08:29 PMKathyHowe - I hear your challenge and it's not gonna happen, sweetheart. Don't forget, I live with the man and I pretty much know whenever he posts. Plus, I keep a really close eye on those stats. So bring it, darlin. Did you not read my post from this evening? I'm up for it!
(You know I love you!!)
Posted by: Empress at July 14, 2003 08:34 PMBBBBWWWWWahahahaha
hahahahaha!!!
I am so glad I don't have to look at that everyday!
Posted by: Tyme at July 14, 2003 08:42 PMso, go get yourself one of those Three Stooges over-sized drivers..... and WHACK! - into the next neighborhood!
Posted by: P at July 14, 2003 08:53 PMThat's hilarious. Extremely tacky, but hilarious.
Posted by: TW at July 14, 2003 09:10 PMAs if I needed another reason to dislike golf. At least it's not a cat.
KathyHowe, your idle threats don't scare me.
Posted by: Erica at July 14, 2003 09:25 PMI'm going to set the record straight here...I would be second to Empress but I commented under two names prior to the new design. Buddha with a capital B and lower case b. If we totaled them I would be WAY up there with The Empress. **yells at self for being a dumbass** then..**hides under bush**
Posted by: buddha at July 14, 2003 09:32 PMMwwwaaahahahahahaaaaa!
Hey, some of us don't have to cheat and stuff the ballot box when we think we're about to hit a commenting milestone, either.
Posted by: Erica at July 14, 2003 10:15 PMOMG!
That's fucking hideous!
Isn't there some sort of neighbourhood esthetics police?
Don't you have an association or something that you can complain to?
ok.
Maybe you can go out there one night and tee off with a baseball bat and a ladder?
This is why housing developers are currently requiring mailboxes be the SAME and not allowing "designer" boxes.... OMG!
-d
I take it that they are golfers, eh?
Could be worse- had a neighbor back on da farm that had a duck (yes a fucking duck) for his mailbox. You opened the bill to get your mail.
Posted by: Michelle at July 15, 2003 12:17 AMFortunately, we don't ever have to see this monstrosity unless we want to. We're on the main road outside the development and they are within the confines of the development. I just feel sorry for their neighbor across the street from them!
(Michelle - that's really funny! Duck mailbox - I love that you had to open the bill to get the mail - hahahaha!)
Posted by: Empress at July 15, 2003 07:17 AM"It would be funny if their house number was FOUR"
"Duck mailbox: open the BILL to get the MAIL"
HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA
Posted by: BeerMary at July 15, 2003 08:16 AMLOL!!! That's funny. And the title(ist) of your post was great too. Why would anyone want a mailbox like that? Whatever fore? Sorry, but I wasn't the only one doing a pun here!
Posted by: Beavis at July 15, 2003 10:16 AMSo the comments are a competition? I need to get my numbers up then.
Posted by: Busy Mom at July 15, 2003 11:55 AMOK, I've tied Beer Mary.
Posted by: Busy Mom at July 15, 2003 11:55 AMEgads...I bet it doesn't last the summer. Some local kid will get megapoints in mailbox baseball for that thing.
Posted by: john at July 15, 2003 01:37 PMThat is unbelievable! Next they will have pink flamingos in the front yard.
Posted by: cindy at July 15, 2003 09:16 PMI will have to check it out in person because I'm just not that offended by it. Remind me to check it out on Friday, okay? Get me drunk enough (mmmm....martinis) and I'll go rip it out of the ground for you.
Kathy Howe, now that's how you make a challenge!
Posted by: Jean at July 15, 2003 09:30 PM

[Buzz it]
Global Warming, my ass!
